TPMC-15/17-L Series Touchpanel Media Centers

Video is setup using the Overscan and Color controls. The following test patterns are

recommended for adjustment.

Overscan

Overscan is the active image area in a video picture that is outside the edges of the

display device (does not apply to RGB). Overscan adjustment first came about

because of noise and other artifacts at the beginning and end of the scan lines. To

reliably eliminate the noise and fill the screen with a picture, the outside edge of the

active picture area was pushed out past the edge of the display area. The average or

targeted over-scan loss is about 5 to 10% of the image on each edge. Digital images

have nearly eliminated the noise and other artifacts at the edge of the picture, so

more of the video image can be safely shown. The Normal setting is usually the

correct choice for most video inputs.

Presets

Up to 30 presets may be stored for future retrieval.

Input 1 & Input 2

The “Video Setup” window has controls for adjusting peak, boost, skew (QM Input

#1 only) and presets for each of the inputs as shown in the following illustration.

Changes are made in real time.

The Auto button can be used to auto detect video when a single video source (per

input) is connected.

Adjust Peak and Boost to compensate for white or black streaking. On Input #1 of

QM versions, adjustments for red, green and blue skew are available to compensate

for the varying distances that a video signal must travel in a QM cable.

NOTE: QM Input #2 on the TPMC-15/17-QM-L does not have adjustments for

skew compensation.
